BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE:
Create a folder on your computer or on your zip drive called "Art003"
All pages and images you plan to post on the Web will be in this folder.

Using Digital Cameras


SOFTWARE: Free software is available for both image editing and webpage designing.
You can also purchase quality software for a discount from PSU

MICROSOFT PHOTO EDITOR
part of MICROSOFT OFFICE TOOLS
open Microsoft Photo Editor

Under File, >Open your image
Under File, >Properties
type 72 in the resolution box
Under Image >Resize
type in the width of your image
typical image width 7" (500 pixels)
do not make images larger than 9" (650 pixels)


Paint (part of Windows)
Open the image in Paint.
Select Image, Stretch/Skew
Then you can enter percentages in Horizontal and Vertical, like 50% for each, or whatever.

Office Picture Manager (part of Office 2003).
Click on the picture.
Edit Pictures on the right.
Resize at the bottom.
Enter percentages, or pixels.

101 Swift Computer Lab:
Twenty computers will provide access to Macromedia Fireworks and Dreamweaver.
101PC04 up to and including 101PC19 have Dreamweaver and Fireworks.
Photoshop on computers 1-3.
101PC01, 02 and 03 have all three: Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop.

149 Smeal: Eight computers will provide access to Macromedia Fireworks and Dreamweaver.
Three computers will provide Adobe Photoshop.
(the scanner computer providing all three)
151 Smeal: One computer will provide Adobe Photoshop and Micromedia Fireworks and Dreamweaver.
(the scanner computer)

How to Find Your PSU Webpage
go to psu.edu
click on Directories at the bottom left, click on People at top,
That will take you to the PSU Directory
type in your user ID in the Userid box, (bottom left, xxx123)
Your name, Email and other information should appear.
click on your URL link.
it will look something like this:
http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/x/x/xxx123/
Once at this page, after the last slash in the address, type in "art003.html"
This should take you to your ART 003 page, as long as you saved it as "art003.html".
