Art Books

by Samia A. Halaby

Art book are works of art which mimic the book. I have used them as a way to challenge the Rennaissance idea of a window as the frame through which we see a picture. Abstraction is imagery seen but not through a window. It is seen over a period of time as one moves and thinks and plans. The motion and language of our bodies enters into this art and add form which is not seen but rather form which results from how we use our hands.

If you wish to know a bit about my thoughts on painting read "An Aesthetic View." and/or the essay "Abstraction and Illusion." To learn about me read the "Short Biography" or the "Long Biography" or "The Resume."
