I think CD-Rom technology is just too limited to work really well with
video (which is not to say that there aren't some worthwhile and
interesting pieces out there). DVD, however, is another matter entirely...

That doesn't answer the second part, which, as Richard points out, will
remain problematic. It's still expensive and enormously time consuming to
produce such piece or products - it's also difficult to get good
distribution. Perhaps some clever spark out there could design a capital
bid to the Lottery (UK folks...) to commission a series of dance works
created for DVD. ACE did, finally, bow to the notion that commissioned
work does constitute some kind of capital project... It's a long shot, but
who knows...
