Dear artists,
After using the same 486 for the past 8 years or so, I'm ready to purchase a
new computer. I want to use it for changing my artnet studio, which I have
to learn how to do again and working some of my photos into collages with
Photoshop. I was advised to get the following:
graphics card--1,000,000 colors, 4MB video ram
memory 96MB
graphics tablet--stylus with no wires, pressure sensitive, 6x9-8x11
Photoshop 5.0,4.0
hard drive--4gigabite minimum
zip drive built in--100mg
modem-built in, no slower than 33.6 per second
speed--Pentium mmx technology, 266-300 megahurtz
17 inch monitor
scanner ?
printer?
Could you advise me if you have other suggestions. I will be a beginner
with graphics on the computer but I am a painter. I do not plan to stop
painting and if I have to choose the use of my time, I will paint. On the
other hand, I'm working part time now and want to learn to use the computer
in new ways. So I want one that will have the capacity I would need if I
continue with the graphics. Also, if you have any suggestions for classes I
should take here in the bay area.
Thank you
Katherine Klein
