Bay St. Louis, Mississippi
For
five weeks I stayed night and day with Ed in the sweet
country hospital. It was a bittersweet time,
almost like a honeymoon, for we cared only for each other,
reviewing our adventuresome life of fifty years together,
and making plans for each of our futures.
His
death stunned me! I had difficulty realizing our
life together was over.
Sitting
on the seawall at twilight, watching the gathering dusk,
helped bring me back to reality. The cycle of the
dying day, the restorative night, and the beginning of
a new day
connected me to the eternal clock. The Bonaparte gulls
added a grace note of hope, the barges a reminder that life
goes
on. |
