This is user interface related stuff from Don
Hopkins.
- The Design and Implementation
of Pie Menus is an article I wrote for Dr. Dobb's Journal, about Pie
Menus.
- The Shape of PSIBER Space is a
paper about a visual PostScript debugging environment for NeWS
that I wrote. Here's the Abstract.
- Bounce is a a real time visual
data flow programming language, designed to create interactive graphical
simulations, that can filter and control midi, serial, ethernet, and other
devices.
- Kaleida Lab's ScriptX is
an object oriented cross platform multimedia scripting language. I hacked
ScriptX for a couple years.
- NeWS, the Network extensible Window System,
is a multithreaded PostScript interpreter with extensions to draw on the
screen, handle input events, with an object oriented programming facility.
I hacked NeWS for many years.
- SimCity has a really neat user
interface. I ported it to Unix, for NeWS and X11.
- HyperLook is a user interface
development environment by Arthur van Hoff, who I worked with at the Turing
Institute. I ported SimCity to NeWS using Hyperlook.
- TCL/Tk
is a scripting language and UI toolkit by John Ousterhaut. I used TCL/Tk
to port SimCity to X11.
- Video Tape Transcript of Toronto
Usenix Symposium Keynote Address describes the experience of porting
SimCity to Unix, and introduces the following two video tapes.

- Garnet
user interface project was developed by Brad Myers at CMU. I worked on
for 6 months. Great stuff, but I couldn't stand Pittsburgh.

Interactive Programming Environments is a position statement I wrote
in September 1988.
