While I am fascinated by this discussion, and totally agree that recorded
dance should involve the sounds of the dancers performing as well as any
accompaniments, I am completely confused as to why there should be
interest in dance sounds without the dance. Doesn't it become "music",
under the definition of organised sound? I mean, you wouldn't say that a
percussionist was dancing, even if he chose to sit on the floor and bang
it with parts of his body to make the sounds - well, I suppose we as
dancers might, but the percussionist probably wouldn't. I am intrigued...
