This charming piece brings back memories of a special happy time. The scene plays at the Central Park Zoo, where elephants are served treats by visitors on a wonderful summer day. A rather large lady in a blue dress smiles with glee, and a mother tends her child's shoe as balloons float in the crowded backdrop. The mix of events and characters make for a very real and magical moment that is full of cheer and quite unforgettable. As with all of his works this piece was completed on location.
Mr. Tar completed this work in 1964, the centennial anniversary of the historic Central Park Zoo. The original piece is part of the family collection of Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Tar.
The original work is a combination of watercolor and gouache paints set on fine French Arches paper. The signed and numbered limited edition print is produced on Strathmore 100% acid-free rag archival paper, 90 lb., in an edition size of 180 and an image size of 20 x 24 ½".
