As an artist, firmly rooted in my imagination and intellectual grasp of what
is happening around us and the world at large,I believe the arts must
recognize the human struggle, humankind
inhumanity towards humankind.... Since the arts are forms and actions, artist as well as social reformers shout their battle cries and their cure all. The arts of the almost twenty first century, the artist is trying to delight, arouse or denounce, to soothe and to shock. The meditation of the artist on the nature of her universe remains a valuable source of information and inspiration, and that, though the decisions that will shape society in the future will have to be arrived at through compassion and struggle, must be based on the same criteria of mutual respect and appreciation for human freedom and responsibility that must prevail. |
