Wahlbeck is an adventurer who constantly explores the expressional possibilities
within the actions of drawing a line or combining strokes of paint. And
when the process of drawing and the process of painting supports each other
in a harmonic way, the final painting may become a colorful and striking
manifestation of love and lust for life and art. His paintings are crowded
of humans, beasts and symbols.
They give us a pure existentialist and discursive vision of life as
a journey from innocence to wisdom, from ignorance to competence. In collages
and assemblages, he sometimes collects artifacts from his own past to show
us how even the smallest and the most ignored little things can tell us
about culture, nature and life. This is a sort of "criminal research"
within the soul.
