Alzofon Art Institute Academy Lesson

How Do You Do Shading?

Shade -- Using Tone Value to Describe Form.

In this open-ended lesson, we will explore shade, light, reflection and other tone related influences on our perception of form. Here, we will define what constitutes light or shade, and what causes the differences observed within each. We will also look at ways to depict form, ranging from strict representation to enhancing form with artistic invention.

This section on shade is proving to be a vast area to explore, so I have decided to deliver it in sections. In time, all of the pieces will come together.
