Poco Way is a street in San Jose, California that is a small Latino and Cambodian community where I worked for several years. In this painting, I have combined cultural images, a rice field flows under an apartment building and an Aztec codex is chalked on the street. The landscape holds the people who live there, whom I have come to know. The painting is a portrait of them and their neighborhood.
