I would have to agree with you strongly. That seems completely ridiculous
that one would have to send out a proposal for something they would just
pay for everything to go to anyway. I also think that it is ridiculous to
hold an international conference and not be able to help at least some
with the travel since 'dancetech' is not really such a flourishing field
in America. I, at least, do not see the level of appreciation for dance
or many of the arts in America that I saw when I was in London or have
heard about in other countries. I think the least they could do is pay
for the flight. They should've included that information in the proposal
in the first place. Even if you had any money to spend at all, the ticket
would now be so outrageously priced that it would never be feasible. I
think you made the right decision.
