AlienNation Co. launches series of downtown performances & installations
for Houston FotoFest '98

The new transcultural dance/film and performance ensemble AlienNation Co.
(Johannes
Birringer, Artistic Director) introduces PARACHUTE, a series of striking
performance,
music, visual art and film/photography-installation events created in
unused or inaccessible spaces of Houston's historic downtown district and
the former El Mercado del Sol during the International FotoFest 1998
(February 27-March 31).

I.1. Dance-Concert featuring former Houston Ballet dancer/choreographer
Sandra
Organ and her dancers, with original music composed by Steve ParŽ
and performed
live, on the 2nd floor empty loft of the new BAYOU PLACE

AlienNation Co. is dedicated to the development of new performance media
integrating
live stage performances and exhibitions with new digital art technologies.
The Parachute
cycle was commissioned by FotoFest and created specifically for urban sites
not generally used for art/performance. The company consists of 27
independent artists and is committed to promote diverse cultural expression
and innovative approaches to public art.
