"fishgarden"

(synopse)

Former gardener Generico Vespucci, after completing his remedial training in
cosmonautics, now lives on the space station MIRAK. Through an accident,
communications with ground control have been severed, and MIRAK drifts off
course in the galaxy. Vespucci has begun to plant a new tree species, the
'Dolphinate', in outer space./ The goldfish 'romola' flies inside its glass
caspule in a garden, and suffers from electronically-induced melancholy. It is
forced to live under constant camera surveillance./ The argentinian poet
Alfonsia Storni has written a poem about the end of time and has walked into the
south sea.

Out of these elements, the media- and performance artists of the Houston-based
AlienNation Co. will construct an interactive installation in the VOGELFREI
Garden Exhibition. The installation is mildly performative and will deal with
parallel spaces and narratives.

The "skeleton" of the installation is a web of forms in a continuously changing
and transformative constellation of real and virtual spaces, live action,
digital movies, narrative voice and sound. The transitions between the spaces
are fluid. The fish is a symbol for the wanderer between territories, the
gardens of the technologically developed world.

Certain models of communication are offered, whose connections create
narrative metaphors becoming visible on the surface. The garden is such a
surface, similar to that of a computer screen. The two real-time performers are
in the wrong platform.
