A Special Moment

Work finished well,
time unknown, not important,
one all-nighter ending,
in that wonderful state of mind.

Dwarfed by one of MIT's canyons,
above, ahead,
rough, cloud covered sky,
the dark grey of night becoming day.

Homeward bound from the Student Center,
no traffic, exhaust free air,
city healed again by night,
bicycling onto the bridge named Harvard.

East, clear sky, bright, blue, full of day,
arcing round a just risen sun,
clouds rimmed with sunrise red orange,
above the shadowed Boston skyline.

West, clear sky, dark, black, full of night,
arcing round a soon to set full moon,
clouds rimmed with pearly moonglo,
above the Boston Basin's sunrise lit hills.

Below, smoots clicking by,
over the Charles' somber lapping waves,
sunrise lit to the left,
moonglo lit to the right,
with a gentle breeze enfolding all.

Wonder to slow down the bicycling,
turn a commute into beauty's moment,
insuring the best of dreams.
